It is about time I post about Kimmy's April Fool's joke on Thomas. It was so much fun. Usually I completely forget about April Fool's day, but this year Kimmy was so excited about it. She was telling me her plans to play a joke on me and Thomas. She wanted to tell me, but told me I would have to forget about it. Her big plan was to get two pies and smash them in our faces. That is a funny joke, but I just can't understand wasting two perfectly good pies for it! So I told her we should make Thomas a mud pie and then put lots of whipped cream on it and make it look really pretty so he thinks we made him a real pie, and then he would be disappointed and/or grossed out when he cut into it. I thought that would be funny, but Rachel was so excited about it that she told Thomas. Kimmy was so upset that her joke was ruined. So we had a little pow wow and decided that instead of doing the mud pie, since he would be expecting it, we would buy a chocolate pie and make it look like something we had made. Then he would think it was a mud pie and be excited when it was actually a chocolate pie! (Hope you are following all this!) So we bought a Marie Callender's pie and ruffled up the whipped cream and put gummy worms on it.
When Thomas got home I told him the girls made a "special" treat for him, then I gave him a grossed out look like I was trying to prepare him for it. I asked Kimmy to get some plates, but then said, oh wait, we better use paper plates. You can see what I was trying to do, convince him it was a yucky mud pie under the whipped cream, since of course we are on the same team, us against the kids.
It was so priceless. He cut into the pie and pulled the knife out. It was covered in delicious chocolate silk pie, but the look on Thomas' face was just so uncertain. I think we really fooled him, he wasn't sure what it was and I kept playing it up. I told him to taste it and then gave him another gross look. Anyway, lots of fun! You would think you can't kid a kidder, but I think we did okay at it!
